It’s fair to say that 2019 has been a bumper year for the American Queen Steamboat Company and as we continue to build on our successes, 2020 looks set to be even bigger and more exciting than anything that has come before. Looking ahead, here are just a few of the highlights from our brand new season.

The American Countess

One of the most exciting things to come in 2020 is the welcoming of a brand new addition to our fleet of authentic paddlewheeler steamboats. She’s called the American Countess and when she enters service soon she will be offering many of the same exciting itineraries as her sister boats already operating on the Mississippi, the American Queen and the American Duchess.

Built from an existing hull, the American Countess has undergone significant reconstruction to be ready for our passengers, including a massive 60 foot extension to bring her majestic 19th century-style opulence up to its full potential. Now boasting four decks, 123 staterooms and a sleek modern design to every cabin and fitting, it’s going to be very easy to enjoy life on board this authentically recreated boat – and that’s before taking into account the award-winning culinary team, entertainment, excursions and friendly staff waiting to look after you.

Cruising the Mississippi

To experience the American Countess why not try our “Mighty Mississippi” cruise? This epic 15-day adventure sails from Red Wing on the Upper Mississippi and winds its way south through the states of Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Missouri and Tennessee to New Orleans. The American Countess will be calling at many outstanding historic destinations along the way, including the spiritual home of Rock ‘N’ Soul, Memphis, and the South’s most glorious remaining antebellum mansion at the Nottoway Plantation.

All-Inclusive Cruise Fares

Naturally every cruise in 2020 continues to include all your meals, 24-hour room service, a choice of dining venues, beer and wine with dinner, snacks, speciality coffees, soft drinks and bottled water throughout your voyage. Add to that the inclusion of a shore excursion in every port of call, daily on-board enrichment in the company of expert “Riverlorians” and nightly Broadway-calibre entertainment – all of which comes as standard on every AQSC experience – and you’ll never want to disembark!

25 Years of the American Queen

In 2020 the American Queen reaches her 25th anniversary. To celebrate this landmark event in the history of the largest steamboat ever built, passengers cruising aboard our flagship vessel will be treated to a host of on-board festivities throughout the year. The Great Lakes of North America

While we’re on the subject of North American destinations, 2019 brought with it many exciting new cruises for our sister company, Victory Cruise Lines, who have two ships – M/V Victory I and M/V Victory II – delivering thrilling itineraries across the Great Lakes of Michigan, Huron, Erie and Ontario, as well as coastal New England and the Canadian provinces of Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island.

2020 looks set to be another exciting year for Victory as well, so to see what they have on offer you can visit their dedicated website here. Or to discover more about the our own upcoming season at AQSC just click the Request Brochure button below.
